An ace performance by Alex Rivers led the Schaumburg Boomers (37-25) to a 2-0 win over the Joliet Slammers (26-36) on Thursday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

Rivers kept the Joliet Slammers off the board during his seven innings of work. Rivers struck out seven and allowed one walk and three hits.

Steve McQuail got on base two times in the game for the Schaumburg Boomers. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the second inning.

Tommy Mendoza (3-5) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
