The Mystic Schooners (5-26) had a tough outing on Wednesday, as the Newport Gulls (24-7) dominated in a 12-4 win at Cardines Field.

The Newport Gulls scored five runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Caleb Kellogg, a fielder's choice, an RBI double by Matt Pare, an RBI single by Charlie White, and an error.

Steve Anderson put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Newport Gulls. He doubled in the first and fifth innings and singled in the third and eighth innings.

Pete Kelich's six strikeouts helped the Newport Gulls to the victory. Kelich allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk over six innings.

Andrew Santomauro racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Mystic Schooners. He homered in the first inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Louis Concato ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked three and struck out two.

The Newport Gulls hammered the Mystic Schooners pitching as seven hitters had a field day, combining for 14 hits, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
