Nate LaPointe went 2-3, sparking the Sanford Mainers (7-13) to a 2-0 victory in seven innings over the Mystic Schooners (3-20) on Friday at Goodall Park.
He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.Jason Inghram put together a nice outing. Inghram held the Mystic Schooners hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.
Steven Rice improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Sanford Mainers. Rice struck out three, walked none and gave up two hits.
Eric Stone was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
