The Laconia Muskrats (8-10) failed to take advantage of Vincente Conde's effort at the plate on Saturday, losing 15-3 to the Newport Gulls (11-4) at Robbie Mills Park.
Conde rocked the Newport Gulls with two home runs. Conde went 3-5 in the game with two RBIs and two runs scored. Conde homered in the third and seventh innings.
The Newport Gulls blew out the Laconia Muskrats thanks to 18 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Newport Gulls scored six runs in the fourth on a hit by pitch, an RBI single by Brett Winger, a two-run single by Winger, a double by Austin Slater, a single by Conor Keniry, and a double by Robby Ort.
Winger racked up five RBIs on four hits for the Newport Gulls.
John Hochstatter got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over seven innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered 10 hits.
Kyle Mullen (1-1) took the loss for the Laconia Muskrats. He allowed 13 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
