Nolan Snell hopes every outing could go as well as Saturday, as Snell tossed six scoreless innings to carry the Vermont Mountaineers (1-2) to a 5-1 victory over the Holyoke Blue Sox (1-2) at Montpelier Recreation Field.
Casey Brighton had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the fifth inning and doubled in the seventh inning.
A bright spot for the Holyoke Blue Sox in the defeat was David Speer, who allowed only three runs while striking out six.
Speer (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher.
