The Danbury Westerners (1-0) beat the Mystic Schooners (0-1) 7-3 on Friday at Rogers Park behind Zach Shank, who had two extra base hits.

Brett Houseal improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Danbury Westerners. He allowed three runs over seven innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered six hits.
Jose Lopez ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked one and struck out six.
