Brian Carroll drove in the winning run to give the Cowlitz Black Bears (18-21) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Cowlitz Black Bears hung on to beat the Wenatchee AppleSox (26-12) 2-1 on Saturday.
After Austin Wobrock doubled, Carroll singled, bringing home Wobrock.Carroll was solid at the plate for the Cowlitz Black Bears. Carroll went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third, sixth, and eighth innings.
The Wenatchee AppleSox couldn't get anything going as long as Taylor Williams was on the mound. Williams held the Wenatchee AppleSox hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Drew Jacobs was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
