A great effort by Bodie Cooper led the Swift Current Indians (2-0) to a 12-9 win over the Weyburn Beavers (0-2) on Monday at Mitchell Field.

Cooper blasted two home runs for the Swift Current Indians. Cooper went 3-5 in the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. Cooper homered in the second and eighth innings.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 21 runs and 34 hits, including zero extra base hits. Relief pitchers got their fill of innings during the game, with the opposing managers using seven pitchers in total.

Ulysses Fluellen had two extra-base hits for the Weyburn Beavers. He doubled in the first and fifth innings and singled in the third and eighth innings.

Reece Calvert improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Swift Current Indians. He allowed three runs over 2 2/3 innings. Calvert struck out two, walked two and gave up six hits.

Scott Beever was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked one and struck out five.
