The Adirondack Trail Blazers get on top of the Utica Blue Sox early but can't hang on in 5-1 loss

The Adirondack Trail Blazers (5-17) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-1 to the Utica Blue Sox (17-5) on Monday.

A hit by pitch gave the Utica Blue Sox the lead in the sixth inning.

The Adirondack Trail Blazers had no answer for Eric Handelman, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Handelman held the Adirondack Trail Blazers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Chad Burrows got the win, running his season record to 3-1. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered four hits.

Josh Partridge was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
