First-inning rally sparks blowout win for the Pierce, 11-4

An eight-run explosion in the first inning led the Pierce (23-13) to an 11-4 win in seven innings over the Centralia on Friday.

The Pierce scored in the first on an RBI double by Andrew Barrera, an error, an RBI double by Josh Swanson, an RBI single by Hudson Byorick, an RBI double by Mac McCarty, an RBI double by Carter Johnson, and a two-run home run by Gunnar Schubert.

Schubert got on base three times in the game for the Pierce. He scored two runs and had two RBIs.

Micah Richardson put together a nice outing. Richardson held the Centralia (13-21) hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Leif Strom improved to 6-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Pierce. He allowed four runs over 3 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered six hits.

Carter Owens ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in two-thirds of an inning, walked one and struck out one.
