An outstanding effort by Michele Strauss carried the Spokane (26-13) to a 2-0 win in seven innings over the Big Bend (7-24) on Sunday at Big Bend Complex.
Shayla Baker was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the Spokane batters and allowing two runs.
Strauss improved to 19-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Spokane. Strauss struck out nine, walked two and gave up no hits.
Baker ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his eleventh loss of the year.
