The Yakima Valley best the Grays Harbor in shootout, 16-8

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Saturday as the Yakima Valley (4-21) outscored the Grays Harbor (0-17) 16-8 in five innings.

The two teams combined for 22 hits in the game.

Fourteen runs in the first three innings helped the Yakima Valley blow out the Grays Harbor. An RBI double by Taylor Rath, an error, an RBI single by Shania Carlisle, and a two-run single by Carlisle during the first inning and an error, an error, and a solo home run by Daphne Fisher in the second inning fueled the Yakima Valley's offense early.

Fisher went a perfect 4-4 at the dish for the Yakima Valley.

Katelynn Paladin racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Grays Harbor. He singled in the first and second innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Beth Anderson improved to 1-13 on the year by picking up the win for the Yakima Valley. He allowed two runs over 3 1/3 innings. Anderson struck out one, walked three and gave up five hits.

Alyssa Satteson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his eleventh loss of the year. He allowed 16 runs in five innings, walked three and struck out three.
