Emily Newman went 4-4 at the plate, sparking the University of Jamestown to an 8-5 victory in seven innings over the Douglas (5-3) on Saturday at Arizona.
He homered in the first inning and singled in the third, fourth, and seventh innings.The Douglas couldn't get anything going as long as Brittany Rheault was pitching. Rheault held the Douglas hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.
Madison Heggie racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Douglas. He homered in the first inning.
Keeley Ainge (0-1) took the loss for the Douglas. He allowed eight runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out seven.
