The Spokane (2-0) jumped out to an early lead on the Highline (0-1) and captured a 12-1 victory on Saturday at Columbia Playfields.
The game was decided quickly as the Spokane exerted their will early with nine runs in the first three innings.
An RBI single by Ashlynn Bocook, an RBI single by Madilyn Naccarato, and an RBI single by Courtney Kent in the first inning and an RBI single by Kylee Andreason and an RBI single by Naccarato during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Spokane.Ryelynn Mendoza got a hit in each of his two at bats. He singled in the second inning.
Michele Strauss pitched lights out for the Spokane. The Highline managed just four hits off of Strauss, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his five innings of work.
Kayla Higa (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed nine runs in three innings, walked three and struck out none.
The Spokane pounded the Highline pitching, as six hitters combined for 11 hits, eight RBIs and nine runs scored.
