Pavin Smith went 2-3, sparking the Harwich Mariners (11-3) to a 2-1 victory over the Orleans Firebirds (7-7) on Saturday at Whitehouse Field.

Patrick Naughton handled the Orleans Firebirds' lineup with ease, racking up nine strikeouts. Naughton allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk over six innings.

Zach Logue pitched lights out for the Orleans Firebirds. The Harwich Mariners managed just one hit off of the the Orleans Firebirds' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Austin Bain got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Bain struck out four, walked none and gave up two hits.

(Thomas) Will Stokes was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
