The Edmonton Prospects (1-0) shut the door early on the Fort McMurray Giants (0-1), capturing a 16-3 victory on Saturday at TELUS Field.

With 11 runs in the first three innings, the Edmonton Prospects left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A groundout by Cory Scammell and an RBI single by Kody Funderburk in the first inning and an error and a sacrifice fly by Logan Wedgewood during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Edmonton Prospects.

Funderburk racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Edmonton Prospects.

Noah Gapp got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over five innings. Gapp struck out seven, walked one and gave up four hits.
