Josh Gardiner went 2-4 as the Schaumburg Boomers (11-14) took home an 8-7 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts (17-8) at Standard Bank Stadium on Friday.
He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fourth inning.Jake Joyce put together a nice outing. Joyce held the Windy City ThunderBolts hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.
Taylor Smart went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth and eighth innings.
Brandon Boyle (4-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
