The Gateway Grizzlies (9-16) built an early edge on Thursday, but the Southern Illinois Miners (14-9) roared back to steal a 4-1 victory at GCS Ballpark.
While the Gateway Grizzlies led until the eighth inning, the Southern Illinois Miners worked their way back and took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Alex De Leon.
Jarett Miller kept contact to a minimum, striking out six the Gateway Grizzlies batters. Miller allowed one earned run on eight hits and two walks over seven innings.
Trevor Richards couldn't get it done on the hill for the Gateway Grizzlies, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
