An ace performance by Brandon Phelps spurred the Irish Hills Leprechauns (9-8) to a 5-0 win over the Lake Erie Monarchs (5-12) on Thursday at Flat Rock Field.
Phelps held the Lake Erie Monarchs scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out six.
It was a good day at the plate for the Irish Hills Leprechauns' Ty Suntken. Suntken went 3-5 and scored one run. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the first and fourth innings.
Tyler Whitbread (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
