Early lead not enough for the Galion Graders, drop 6-4 decision to the Grand Lake Mariners

Story by Narrative Science.

The Galion Graders (12-30) built an early edge on Sunday, but the Grand Lake Mariners (23-19) roared back to steal a 6-4 victory at Montgomery Fld (Eastview Pk).

While the Galion Graders led until the fifth inning, the Grand Lake Mariners worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Michael Brown.

Brown put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Grand Lake Mariners. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the first and eighth innings.

Matt McConnell put together a nice outing. McConnell held the Galion Graders hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out one.

AJ Cecil reached base three times. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

Dalton Stambaugh ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

The Grand Lake Mariners' Billy Sager, Nikolas Zouras, Will LaRue and Brown combined for eight hits and five RBIs.
