The Lower Columbia (14-4) shut the door early on the Highline (3-11), capturing a 9-0 victory on Saturday at Tam O' Shanter Park.
With nine runs in the first three innings, the Lower Columbia left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
An RBI double by Jessica Gibson in the first inning and an RBI single by Nicole Bolasky, a two-run double by Ashley Kelly, and a groundout by Sam Boyce during the second inning fueled the Lower Columbia's offense early.Shyanne Chandler paced the Lower Columbia at the plate. Chandler went 2-2, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second and third innings.
The Highline had no answer for Krystina Fischer, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Highline managed just one hit off of the the Lower Columbia's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his four innings of work.
Stefani Gollin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked none and struck out one.
