Thursday was a great day for Chad Miller (Saint Leo University), as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Worcester Bravehearts (1-0) to an 8-7 victory over the Seacoast Mavericks (0-2) at Leary Field.
Cody McPartland (Dowling College) handled the Seacoast Mavericks' lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. McPartland allowed no earned runs, three hits and one walk over five innings.
Cameron Crabbe (USF) racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Seacoast Mavericks. He homered in the seventh inning.
Mitchell Powers (SNHU) pitched lights out for the Seacoast Mavericks. Powers held the Worcester Bravehearts hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Peter Bovenzi (Richmond) got his first win for the Worcester Bravehearts despite allowing five runs over two innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered three hits.
Davis Brown (Amherst College) was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
The Worcester Bravehearts were sparked by Miller and Joe Caico,(New Haven) who teamed up for four hits and seven RBIs.
