The Bellevue outdone by McCarty and the Pierce, 8-5

The Pierce (1-1) beat the Bellevue (2-1) 8-5 in seven innings on Friday at Courter Field behind Mac McCarty, who collected three hits.

He singled in the first, fourth, and fifth innings.

The Bellevue couldn't get anything going as long as Josh Connolly was pitching. Connolly held the Bellevue hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Leif Strom improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Pierce. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. Strom struck out two, walked one and gave up two hits.

Elijah Hill ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out four.
