Blake Springer had two extra base hits, sparking the Big Bend (21-9) to a 7-5 victory over the Spokane (18-14) on Wednesday at Larson Playfield.
He doubled in the fourth and fifth innings.Jordan Ross got on base three times in the game for the Spokane. He singled in the first and seventh innings.
The Big Bend had no answer for Enrique Martinez, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Martinez gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Tyler Winkler recorded his third win for the Big Bend even though he allowed five runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered four hits.
Jared Smith was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out five.
The Big Bend were sparked by Ryan Grening and Springer, who teamed up for two hits and three RBIs.
