Andrews hits and pitches the Columbia Basin to 9-1 victory

Kayla Andrews was strong at the plate and on the bump in carrying the Columbia Basin (18-6) to a 9-1 victory over the Walla Walla on Saturday at CBC Softball Field.

Andrews racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Columbia Basin. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

The Columbia Basin got the win thanks in large part to Andrews' dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Andrews allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over five innings.

The Columbia Basin blew out the Walla Walla (9-11) thanks to nine hits, including zero extra base hits. The Columbia Basin scored four runs in the fourth on the Columbia Basin scored in the fourth on a two-run double by Andrews, an RBI double by Kadi Patterson, and a sacrifice fly by Suzanna Lubanski.

Mallory Chavez (4-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked three and struck out none.
