The British Columbia (1-0) jumped out to an early lead on the Ontario two (0-1) and captured a 12-2 victory on Thursday at Stade Richard-Desmeules.

With eight runs in the first three innings, the British Columbia left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Stacy Fournier, an RBI single by Daniella Matteucci, a groundout by Claire Eccles, an RBI double by Tia Wishart, and an RBI single by Paige McDonnell in the first inning and an RBI single by Matteucci and a two-run single by Emily Fournier during the second inning supplied the early offense for the British Columbia.

Fournier racked up four RBIs on three hits for the British Columbia.

Fournier brought the heat against the Ontario two during his outing. Fournier gave up just one hit, allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out one during his five innings of work.

Hailey Boyd was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked four and struck out none.
