Anthony Herrera was cold coming off the bench, but Herrera warmed up quickly as Herrera stroked a key pinch-hit single in the three to lead the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (3-1) to a 5-1 win over the Amsterdam Mohawks (1-2) on Monday at Shuttleworth Park.

With the game scoreless in the third inning Herrera came to the plate and singled.

It was a good day at the plate for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs' Herrera. Herrera went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run.

Troy Scocca racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Herrera's seven strikeouts were enough to push the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs past the Amsterdam Mohawks. Herrera allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over five innings.

Fernando Guerrero was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
