The Lake Erie Monarchs (1-1) jumped on the Crestwood Panthers (0-2) early on their way to a 7-6 win on Sunday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, scoring six runs in the first inning.

The Lake Erie Monarchs scored in the first on a two-run double by Aaron Aucker, a sacrifice fly by Sammy Stevens, an RBI single by JR Reimer, , and an RBI single by Dazon Cole.

Cole got on base three times in the game for the Lake Erie Monarchs. He scored one run and had one RBI.

Connor Ryan was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Lake Erie Monarchs batters and allowing zero runs.

Jacob Piechota got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered eight hits.

Danny Guido ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just zero innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
