Sam Machonis went 2-4, sparking the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (1-0) to a 6-3 victory over the Albany Dutchmen (0-1) on Friday at Veterans Memorial Park.

Anthony Herrera baffled the Albany Dutchmen, striking out six batters. The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs' pitcher tossed three innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.

Michael Bollmer was hot from the plate for the Albany Dutchmen. Bollmer went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the second, fourth, and ninth innings.

Payton Coddou improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered six hits.

Gavin Wallace (0-1) took the loss for the Albany Dutchmen. He allowed six runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out six.
