The Denver Cougars (0-1) had a tough outing on Friday, as the Puerto Rico National Collegiate (1-0) dominated in an 11-3 win in eight innings at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

The Puerto Rico National Collegiate scored three runs in the eighth on the Puerto Rico National Collegiate scored in the eighth on an RBI single by Cesar Marrero and a two-run single by Abdiel Alicea.

The Puerto Rico National Collegiate's Jonathan Lugo was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Marcos Blanchard struck out 16 hitters en route to the the Puerto Rico National Collegiate win. Blanchard allowed three earned runs on seven hits and one walk over eight innings.

Noah Durkin racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Denver Cougars. He singled in the third inning and tripled in the eighth inning.

Eli Thornquist (0-1) took the loss for the Denver Cougars. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
