The Normal CornBelters (21-15) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 6-4 ballgame against the Joliet Slammers (16-21) on Saturday at Silver Cross Field.
The Joliet Slammers took the lead in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Hunter Ridge.
Ridge racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Joliet Slammers. He singled in the third and fifth innings.
Aaron Dudley went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Normal CornBelters. He singled in the first and third innings.
Kevin Walter improved to 1-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed four runs over five innings. Walter struck out four, walked two and gave up five hits.
Michael Schweiss ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
