The Pompano Beach Clippers (26-3) and the South Florida Huskies (12-12) each put runners in scoring position on Saturday, but the Pompano Beach Clippers capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 6-5 win at Coral Springs High School.
The South Florida Huskies had no answer for Brett Maggard, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Maggard held the South Florida Huskies hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
John Baiada was solid at the plate for the South Florida Huskies. Baiada went 3-4 and drove in one. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and ninth innings.
Nick Alonzo (2-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
