Boxscore | Game Recap | Boxscore Text Version | Gamelive Version

Early boost from Senzel helps the Brewster Whitecaps get past the Harwich Mariners, 8-7

Story by Narrative Science.

The Brewster Whitecaps (24-19)'s three first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home an 8-7 win over the Harwich Mariners (20-22) on Sunday at Stony Brook.

A three-run home run by Nick Senzel delivered the runs in the first. The Brewster Whitecaps had three hits in the inning.

Toby Handley reached base two times. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He tripled in the second inning and singled in the eighth inning.

The Harwich Mariners couldn't get anything going as long as Thomas Hackimer was pitching. Hackimer held the Harwich Mariners hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Matt Gonzalez had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Hansen Butler improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Brewster Whitecaps. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Joe Ravert ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
