The Harwich Mariners need walk-off single to beat the Brewster Whitecaps, 5-4

A walk-off single from Nick Walker brought home the winning run for the Harwich Mariners (14-19) in a 5-4 victory over the Brewster Whitecaps (18-16) at Whitehouse Field on Saturday.

Walker reached base two times. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the ninth inning.

Brock Deatherage was hot from the plate for the Harwich Mariners. Deatherage went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, third, seventh, and ninth innings.

Hunter Newman had an impressive outing against the Brewster Whitecaps' lineup. Newman held the Brewster Whitecaps hitless over 3 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Jacob Jenkins was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Harwich Mariners batters and allowing two runs.

Thomas Hackimer ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
