The Joliet Slammers (42-54) needed 12 innings on Sunday to take down the Rockford Aviators (49-47) 4-3 at Silver Cross Field.
With the score tied at three in the twelfth inning, Mike Garza came to the plate and singled, plating Carter Bell.
Jeremy Nowak was hot from the plate for the Joliet Slammers. Nowak went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second inning and homered in the sixth inning.
The Rockford Aviators had no answer for Navery Moore, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Rockford Aviators managed just two hits off of Moore, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during his five innings of work.
A bright spot for the Rockford Aviators in the defeat was Tony Rizzotti, who allowed only two runs while striking out nine.
Paul Lujan (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
