The Normal CornBelters (50-32) beat the Frontier Greys (38-44) 6-5 on Friday at The Corn Crib behind Santiago Chirino, who went 4-4 at the plate.
He singled in the first, second, fourth, and sixth innings.The Normal CornBelters got the win thanks in large part to Michael Schweiss's dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Schweiss allowed three earned runs, seven hits and one walk over seven innings.
Max Homick was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out eight.
