The Evansville Otters (43-21) were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Evansville Otters were ahead until the fifth inning, but the Southern Illinois Miners would not be denied the win, taking the lead back on a solo home run by Brian Portelli.
Portelli reached base two times in the game for the Southern Illinois Miners. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the fifth inning.
Trevor Walch pitched eight innings and allowed two earned runs, six hits and four walks while striking out four.
Walch was charged with his fourth loss of the year.
