The Normal CornBelters (35-28) and the Traverse City Beach Bums (36-25) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Normal CornBelters capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 9-7 win at Wuerfel Park.

Cameron Monger racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

A bright spot for the Traverse City Beach Bums in the defeat was Luis DeJesus, who allowed only one run while striking out six.

Alex Tomasovich was hot from the plate for the Traverse City Beach Bums. Tomasovich went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fifth and ninth innings.

Race Parmenter recorded his second win of the year for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Scott Vachon couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Traverse City Beach Bums, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed no runs.
