Thursday was a great day for Alexi Colon, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Schaumburg Boomers (25-35) to a 5-3 victory over the River City Rascals (33-27) at T. R. Hughes Ballpark in 12 innings.
The River City Rascals jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The River City Rascals led until the seventh inning, but the Schaumburg Boomers took the lead back on a solo home run by Colon.
Raul Jacobson baffled the River City Rascals, striking out eight batters. Jacobson allowed three earned runs, five hits and one walk over seven innings.
Jake Joyce recorded his first win of the year for the Schaumburg Boomers. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Zeb Sneed couldn't get it done on the rubber for the River City Rascals, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
Willi Martin, Kyle Ruchim and Colon helped lead the Schaumburg Boomers. They combined for six hits and five RBIs.
