Thursday was a great day for Brandon Jacobs, as he hit two home runs to carry the Traverse City Beach Bums (23-11) to an 8-4 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners (22-14) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.
Aaron Gates got on base three times in the game for the Southern Illinois Miners. He singled in the first inning.
Rick Teasley pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and three walks while striking out two.
Ian MacDougall improved to 5-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He allowed four runs over seven innings. MacDougall struck out three, walked two and gave up six hits.
Eric Green (3-2) took the loss for the Southern Illinois Miners. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
Jacobs, Jeff DeBlieux, Greg Harisis and Yazy Arbelo helped lead the Traverse City Beach Bums. They combined for nine hits and eight RBIs.
