A great day by Edwin Carl wasn't enough to carry the Schaumburg Boomers (12-16) to a win on Tuesday, as the Schaumburg Boomers fell to the Frontier Greys (12-14) 3-2 at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium in 10 innings.
Carl handled the Frontier Greys' lineup with ease, racking up 11 strikeouts. Carl allowed two earned runs, two hits and one walk over 8 1/3 innings.
The Schaumburg Boomers jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Schaumburg Boomers were up until the tenth inning, but the Frontier Greys had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on a solo home run by Scott Carcaise.
Brett Shankin got the win, running his season record to 2-0. Shankin struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.
Jake Joyce ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
