Blake Brown hit two home runs, but it wasn't enough to carry the Gateway Grizzlies (3-9) to a win on Wednesday, as the Gateway Grizzlies fell to the Florence Freedom (6-5) 7-5 at GCS Ballpark.

Sean Mahley got on base three times in the game for the Florence Freedom. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the sixth and ninth innings.

Chuck Weaver baffled the Gateway Grizzlies, striking out nine batters. Weaver allowed two earned runs on six hits and no walks over seven innings.

Daniel DeSimone improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Florence Freedom. He allowed two runs over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered three hits.

Brett Zawacki (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
