The Schaumburg Boomers ninth-inning burst enough to top the Windy City ThunderBolts, 9-1

The Schaumburg Boomers (5-2) blew out the Windy City ThunderBolts (3-3) 9-1 on Thursday at Standard Bank Stadium after pouring on five runs in the ninth inning.

The Windy City ThunderBolts jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Windy City ThunderBolts led until the seventh inning, but the Schaumburg Boomers took the lead back on a two-run double by Mark Nelson.

Alexi Colon had two extra-base hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He doubled in the seventh and ninth innings and singled in the ninth inning.

The Schaumburg Boomers got the win thanks in large part to Eddie Cody's dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Cody allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks over eight innings.

Jake Fisher was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.

The Schaumburg Boomers were sparked by Ryan Tuntland and Colon, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.
