The Richmond RiverRats make the most of 7 hits in 2-1 victory over the Chillicothe Paints

The Richmond RiverRats (8-16) and the Chillicothe Paints (14-11) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Richmond RiverRats capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 2-1 win at VA Memorial Stadium.

The fact that the Richmond RiverRats grouped all of their runs into the second inning helped them take advantage of their hits.

Kenny Hostrander got on base three times in the game for the Richmond RiverRats. He singled in the second and seventh innings.

Brian Mroz put together a nice outing. The Chillicothe Paints managed just three hits off of Mroz, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his three innings of work.

Cory Craig improved to 2-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Richmond RiverRats. He allowed one run over six innings. Craig struck out three, walked three and gave up five hits.

Jason Byers was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
