The Torrington Titans (24-20) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 2-1 ballgame against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (19-25) on Saturday at Doyle Field.
While the Torrington Titans led until the sixth inning, the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run home run by Mike Corin.
Corin racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He homered in the sixth innings.
The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs relied on Mike Lundin to eat up innings en route to the win. Lundin allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out five over seven innings of work.
Jose Rondon was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs batters and allowing two runs.
Rondon ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
