The New Brunswick (4-1) beat the Newfoundland Labrador 12-0 Saturday behind both the bat and the arm of Zack Newman.

Newman went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for the New Brunswick. He singled in the first, third, and fifth innings and doubled in the sixth inning.

The Newfoundland Labrador (0-5) had no answer for Newman, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Newman gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

The biggest inning for the New Brunswick was the sixth. In the inning the New Brunswick scored eight runs. The New Brunswick scored in the sixth on a solo home run by Adam Estey, a two-run home run by Estey, an RBI single by Tyrel Poore, a hit by pitch, , , and a two-run single by Estey.

Aaron Peach ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
