Schofield-Sam hits and pitches the Ontario to 6-4 victory

The Ontario (1-0) beat the British Columbia 6-4 Thursday behind both the bat and the arm of TJ Schofield-Sam.

Schofield-Sam had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Schofield-Sam pitched lights out for the Ontario. The British Columbia (0-1) managed just two hits off of Schofield-Sam, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out three during his four innings of work.

The British Columbia's Ryan Blight was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the third and fifth innings.

Stanley Dean got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over two innings. Dean struck out five, walked none and gave up three hits.

Carlin Dick ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
