The Lower Columbia outdone by Nielsen and the Tacoma, 6-4

The Tacoma (36-6) beat the Lower Columbia (30-14) 6-4 on Saturday at Minnitti Field behind Brett Nielsen, who went 2-4.

He singled in the sixth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

Justin Vernia racked up seven strikeouts in the the Tacoma win. Vernia allowed two earned runs on eight hits and no walks over eight innings.

Trevor Lane was hot from the plate for the Lower Columbia. Lane went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first and fifth innings and doubled in the eighth inning.

Tanner Olson was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 7 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out four.
