Winston Lavendier struck out seven batters to lift the Sedalia (MO) Bombers (2-0) to a 2-1 win over the Austin (TX) Shockers at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

A bright spot for the Austin (TX) Shockers (1-1) in the defeat was Elis Foreman, who allowed only two runs while striking out seven.

Foreman ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
