The Prince Edward Island (2-1) and the Manitoba (1-2) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Prince Edward Island capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-3 win at Leakos Field.

Porter Smith pitched lights out for the Prince Edward Island. The Manitoba managed just two hits off of Smith, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his three innings of work.

The Manitoba's Mitchell Lyall was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the first, fourth, and sixth innings.

Evan Funk ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
